Surya Mudra is the best Yoga Mudra to lose weight quickly

Prithvi Shaamak Mudra which is popularly known as

the ‘Surya mudra’ helps in increasing the Agni (fire)

element and at the same time, decreases the Prithvi

(earth) element within the body. Thus, it promotes

The Surya Mudra is excellent for people with high

Kapha constituition (heavy, slow, laid back attitude,

How to Perform Surya Mudra for Weight Loss?

First of all, place the tip of the ring finger on the base

of the thumb and then apply gentle pressure of the

thumb upon this finger.

This pressure suppresses the earth element which

resides in the ring finger by the fire element that resides

in the thumb. Thus, the fire is able to rage unopposed.

For best results, this mudra should be performed for at

least 45 minutes every day. If you can’t do it at a single

stretch due to lack of time, then try to do it 3 parts (15

minutes each; 3 times a day).

Warning:

Don’t practice this mudra for more than 45 minutes per

day. Why because, over performance of this mudra

may cause undue heating of the body.

Also, people with Pitta Constitution (strong

metabolism, hot temper, ulcers, oily skin, acne) are not

recommeded to practice Surya mudra.

Surya Mudra is Beneficial for:

Abnormally low body-temperature
Coldness of skin, body, limbs, hands, feet, etc.
Intolerance to cold, shivering
Underactivity of the thyroid gland causing slow

metabolism
Obesity, progressive weight-gain
Loss of appetite, indigestion, constipation
Absence of sweating.
Certain vision/eye problems, especially cataract.
