I’ve had a few questions about gallbladder stuff – from what surgery in Oz is like to how big are the incisions to what the heck does the gallbladder even do – so I figured I’d throw open a Q&A thread to answer any questions.
Feel free to ask anything – even stuff you might think TMI but want to know. Nothing out of bounds as long as it relates to the subject.
Cheers.
I don’t have any questions, but I did have my first gallbladder attack in more than a year recently. And boy, it was just as bad as I remember it! My strategy was to drink a glass of barley grass juice, take to paracetamol (something I NEVER do) and have a shower with the warm water falling on the gallbladder area. Then I got into bed and writhed around in pain for about an hour, after which is was all over.
And I know exactly what had brought it on – a binge of fatty food. That will teach me!
By the end, there wasn’t a rhyme or reason to my attacks. Anything and nothing could set it off.
The one thing I found useful when my attacks were happening more predictably is flax tea. Worked like a charm before my gallbladder became inflamed.
